New World Wind has pioneered micro-wind turbines like the Aeroleafs, WindTree, WindBush and WindPalm, designed to blend seamlessly into urban landscapes while offering a sustainable energy solution. Inspired by nature, these turbines mimic the appearance of trees, generating clean energy from even light winds, starting at 2.5m/s. Unlike traditional wind turbines, Aeroleafs are quiet, compact, and easy to install on rooftops, balconies, or public spaces, making them ideal for cities and communities. With customization options and a focus on aesthetics, New World Wind aims to integrate renewable energy into everyday life while promoting self-sufficiency and reducing environmental impact.
Inspired by Nature
We started the interview by asking, “What inspired the creation of micro-wind turbines like the WindTree and WindBush, and how do they differ from traditional wind energy solutions?”
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “We wanted to have products close nature. What’s better than trees? They permit to transform CO² in oxygen and they permit to save our planet, they protect, too, birds. So, with our “trees” we wanted to have something similar. Transform the energy from the wind in energy for people and preserve birds (scarecrow). The targets were reached and inside cities, universities, factories, warehouse… we can erect our “trees” without any troubles. Our micro turbines called “Aeroleafs” can be deployed everywhere. We can install them close the energy needs (roof tops, telecom towers, petrol stations, buildings, warehouses…). They do not produce any sound and their performances permit to generate energy from 2.5m/s wind speed. They can produce 24/7 where solar panels cannot permit to generate energy during the night.”
Striking the Perfect Balance
The Worlds Times: New World Wind has designed turbines that blend with urban landscapes. How do you balance aesthetics with the technical performance of your products?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “Because aesthetic is very important to accept a product. We wanted to have the best design for the performance but also, for the integration of parts everywhere. We can customize the aeroleafs with different colours, with logos, Aeroleafs can be deployed on different supports without big civil works (single bracket will be needed). Aesthetic must integrate no pollution that is the design was done. No noise, no visual issues!”
Global Expansion
The Worlds Times: New World Wind is now present across five continents. What strategies have been most effective in promoting your wind turbines to diverse markets?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “We started with the promotion of our “trees”, because they were original and easy to integrate inside cities. Many customers and followers know, now, their original design. But the market is not only for a “showcase” (main target for our customers), we develop a new design of Aeroleaf, much more relevant, much more performant and the market for this kind of products are very huge. Where we need energy, Aeroleafs will be one answer. Note that we also promote “Hybrid Aeroleaf”, including a solar petal.”
Empowering Individual Energy
The Worlds Times: How do your products contribute to individual energy self-sufficiency, and what role do you see micro-wind turbines playing in the global shift toward renewable energy?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “Where the wind is blowing, Aeroleafs can be erected. We can install them on balcony, terraces, roof tops, telecom towers… If you have a support, Aeroleafs could be installed. The only parameter we must integrate is “what is the wind speed?” We can start production of energy from 2.5m/s and the maximum windspeed before failure of Aeroleafs is 42m/s. We now, propose 3 kinds of Aeroleafs: 300W, 500W and in 2025 we will put on the market a new generation of Aeroleafs with 1000W generator. All those powers must be considered as the maximum power by Aeroleaf.”
Innovating Wind Energy
The Worlds Times: Can you share more about the research and development process behind products like the WindBush and WindPalm? What challenges did you face, and how did you overcome them?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “If fact WindBush, WindPalm or WindTree were only a design to be similar as trees. The R&D is concentrated on Aeroleafs cause energy is provided through this product and its techs. We invested more than 1M€ to develop new products, new designs and to enhance the performances. Note that ROI on Aeroleafs is 18 months to 3 years maximum in accordance with the wind speed level.”
Integrating Micro-Wind Turbines
The Worlds Times: Micro-wind turbines cater to local energy needs. How do you see the integration of your products in both individual homes and larger communities?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “Easily of course. The weight is less than 14kgs, the height is less than 1 m and we do not need civil works to fix Aeroleafs on the roof tops, balconies or terraces. Everybody can install our Aeroleafs and to connect to their own grid.”
Showcasing Sustainability
The Worlds Times: What are some of the most exciting projects or installations of New World Wind’s turbines in urban environments, and how have they impacted those areas?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “We worked for the biggest companies in the world. We worked for Aramco, Adnoc in GCC area. We worked for Engie, Veolia, L’Oréal in France and we already installed some Aeroleafs on a Spanish life base in Antartica. The targets were different but all projects were very exciting. The new steps will be to install our Aeroleafs on all the buildings, warehouses, factories in the world.”
Exploring Future Innovations
The Worlds Times: As New World Wind continues to innovate, what new technologies or solutions are you excited to explore in the coming years?
Luc-Eric KRIEF replied, “Research, technology watch are very important if we want to stay on the market. Competitors are very imaginative, we must be better than them. So investments in R&D are the keys to success and the key to be a leader on the market.”
Empowering Success
Lastly we asked, “Any advice to our readers?”
“May be, if you permit, I will have 2 advices:
- Believe in you and deploy your energy to have success.
- An idea is never bad; we just adapt it to have a product and to sell it.
And at all, be the best!” Luc-Eric KRIEF Concluded
