How can you make an iPhone SE look and feel like a regular iPhone? Recent leaked images of the next iPhone show how Tim Cook and his team plan to make the new iPhone fit in with their other models.

The iPhone SE Won’t Have The Dynamic Island
There has been some question about how advanced the iPhone SE screen would be. The main iPhone models moved from the classic notch first seen on the iPhone X to the Dynamic Island, which features a pill-shaped cutout for the selfie camera, Face ID, and other sensors. The cutout is hidden by a black area on the screen that can change size to show useful information and controls.

The latest leaked images of the 2025 iPhone SE show that it will get the notch for the first time, but it won’t have the Dynamic Island. This choice will affect a few things.

How the iPhone SE’s Notch Will Help Apple

The first benefit is the cost. The notch screen uses older technology, and since the screen is one of the most expensive parts of a phone, using a simpler one helps keep the overall cost of making the iPhone SE lower.

This is also why the phone will probably not have a screen with a high refresh rate.

Next, Apple needs to create clear differences between its products. The iPhone SE will include many features from Apple’s ecosystem, but not all of them. If it had everything, there would be no reason for people to buy a more expensive iPhone, like the iPhone 16. Keeping the latest screen technology, like the Dynamic Island, will help make that difference.

The iPhone SE has to look like an iPhone

The current iPhone SE still uses TouchID and has big borders around the screen. But the 2025 iPhone SE will change that, with a nearly full-screen display and a notch that people mostly associate with the iPhone.
