Updated on February 10: Samsung has released an important security update for Galaxy S24 users, but it also brings some bad news.
Samsung Galaxy owners waiting for updates are facing more delays. While new S25 buyers start using their phones, owners of older models are still unsure when they will get One UI 7 and Android 15. Now, the situation has become even more uncertain with a concerning new update.
Regarding One UI 7, there is no official update beyond last month’s statement that newer models like the S24 and S23 will be the first to receive it this quarter. Many had hoped for an early February release, possibly before the usual monthly update, to avoid updating their phones twice in one month.
One UI 7 and Android 15 focus on better security and privacy, making Galaxy devices safer. Google’s new system is getting closer to the iPhone in this area, and Samsung has gone even further, making its software the most secure Android version yet. It’s a great update.
However, tech leaker Ice Universe posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Friday, warning that “the Galaxy S24 series will get One UI 7.0 Beta 4, but the final version is still far away.” One user replied, saying, “This is disappointing. Samsung is usually fast with updates, but this time, even Motorola might be quicker. If they are delaying it just to promote the S25 series, that’s not good.”
Phone Arena said that many people thought One UI 7 would start rolling out today for the Galaxy S24 series since today is when the Galaxy S25 officially goes on sale. However, the latest update disappoints them, saying that Galaxy S24 users will have to wait longer for the stable One UI 7.
SammyFans gave a more negative view: “Samsung said the update ‘is expected to gradually roll out to other Galaxy devices.’ This means older flagship phones like the S24 and S23 might have to wait longer for the One UI 7 update. The company hasn’t finished the One UI 7 Beta Program yet, and since they haven’t shared a clear rollout schedule, the update could be delayed.”
Samsung is still expected to release the upgrade this month, but later than originally hoped. For Galaxy S24 users in the One UI 7 beta program, Beta 4 is available to use while waiting for the final version.
According to Android Police, Samsung usually waits at least one to two weeks between the last beta and the stable release. This means Galaxy S24 owners may get One UI 7 around the third week of February. This is disappointing since Samsung already took a long time to release the beta for the S24 series.
While Android 15/One UI 7 is a great update, there is a bigger concern for Galaxy users. Google has released Android’s February security update, which fixes a serious security issue that hackers are actively exploiting. Pixel devices have already received this fix, but Samsung has not included it in its February update. I have asked Samsung when it will be available and am waiting for a response. It could already be rolling out but is not yet listed in official documents, or it might be delayed by a month, as has happened before. Either way, users will want to know more.

Samsung’s February update includes important fixes, so update your phone as soon as possible. The most serious issue was a security flaw related to USB devices. While details are limited, this type of issue is often used by forensic tools to access data. Fixing it is very important.
However, a bigger concern is the Android 15 update. According to Android Police, Samsung is the only major Android brand that hasn’t updated its 2024 flagship phones to Android 15, while other brands have already done so, even for mid-range devices.
As expected, on Monday, February 10th, Samsung started rolling out the February security update before the One UI 7 upgrade. This likely means the Android 15 update won’t arrive anytime soon, possibly not until the end of the month.
According to SammyFans, Samsung has released a new update for the Galaxy S24, S24 Plus, and S24 Ultra, adding the February 2025 security patch to improve security. The update is currently available in Korea and will expand to more regions soon. Galaxy S24 users are still waiting for the One UI 7 update, which Samsung already released with the Galaxy S25 series in January 2025. However, they are now receiving a One UI 6.1-based security update instead.
The important build numbers to check are:
- Galaxy S24: S921NKSS4AYA1
- Galaxy S24 Plus: S926NKSS4AYA1
- Galaxy S24 Ultra: S928NKSS4AYA1
This update is very important, even though a new OS upgrade is coming soon. So, install it as soon as possible.
SamMobile highlights the bad news—many users were expecting a big upgrade but only got a security update. They say, “Samsung released a new software update for the Galaxy S24, S24+, and S24 Ultra. But it will upset fans because it does not include One UI 7 (Android 15), only security fixes.”
With the Galaxy S25 now available, people hoped older models would get One UI 7 by mid-February. But that seems unlikely since Samsung usually delays security updates when a major Android and One UI update is near.
A week after Google and Samsung released their February security updates, the zero-day issue CVE-2024-53104 is still not in the security bulletin—and it probably won’t be. Samsung mentioned that some of its fixes in the Samsung Android Security Update cannot be shared yet, which might also be true for Android updates. In the past, Samsung has fixed serious security issues in its regular updates and listed them in later bulletins. That might be happening again now.
If you don’t want to wait for the safer One UI 7 update, the best option is to upgrade your phone. According to SamMobile, “The fastest way to get One UI 7.0 is to buy a Galaxy S25 series phone.” Right now, the Galaxy S25, S25+, and S25 Ultra are the only devices running the stable Android 15-based One UI 7.0. The Galaxy S24 series is expected to be next, but since Samsung just released the February 2025 security patch for the S24 series in South Korea, the stable One UI 7.0 update will likely not come this week.
