Disney’s Snow White, starring Rachel Zegler and Gal Gadot, is struggling at the box office. Ticket sales are expected to drop by 53% or more in its second weekend.

The movie already faced bad publicity before release, with backlash over Zegler’s negative comments about the original animated film and controversial social media posts. It earned $42.2 million in its first weekend, much lower than expected.

Making things worse, Snow White cost a huge $250–$270 million to produce, not counting marketing costs. If Disney hoped to recover some of that money, it doesn’t seem like moviegoers are helping.

According to Deadline, the film is expected to earn around $20 million in its second weekend, a big drop from its opening.

Some sources have different guesses for how much money Snow White will make in its second weekend. Box Office Pro thinks the movie could earn between $17 million and $25 million from Friday to Sunday.

The $25 million guess is on the high side, but there’s also a chance the movie could make $3 million less than what Deadline predicted.

Snow White Will Likely Stay at No. 1 Despite Five New Movies

Even though Snow White is having another weak weekend, it is still expected to be the top movie. It will likely make more money than five new films, including the Jason Statham action movie A Working Man and the horror-comedy Death of a Unicorn, starring Jenna Ortega and Paul Rudd.

Amazon/MGM’s A Working Man is expected to earn between $10 million and $12 million from 3,262 theaters in the U.S. Meanwhile, A24’s Death of a Unicorn is looking at an opening between $5 million and $7 million in 3,050 theaters, according to Deadline.
